The SciLog® PureTec® automated tangential flow filtration (TFF) system from Parker is a complete bench‑top development platform designed for biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical process development. This automated tangential flow filtration system combines precise pump and pressure control with integrated weighing and data acquisition to streamline TFF concentration and diafiltration studies.
Delivered as a turnkey TFF development system, the PureTec includes three SciPres® pressure sensors, an 8.1 kg balance, a 500 mL vessel with magnetic stirrer, and a start‑up kit with tubing and fittings. Real‑time monitoring and control of key parameters—such as transmembrane pressure (TMP), permeate flow, and normalized water permeability—enable efficient optimization of membrane area, feed rate, and TMP for scale‑up.
With automated pressure control, programmable end points, and alarm / pump‑stop settings, the PureTec provides safe, walk‑away operation so scientists can focus on other tasks while runs are in progress. In constant‑rate or constant‑pressure modes, users can perform systematic stepwise changes in pump rate or TMP to rapidly identify operating windows that maximize permeate yield and product recovery.
For diafiltration applications, the system supports constant‑volume buffer exchange strategies that efficiently “wash” protein or biomolecule solutions to remove salts and other low‑molecular‑weight impurities. Integration with SciDoc® software or a printer allows automatic documentation of up to 17 real‑time filtration parameters, providing full electronic records that support Quality by Design (QbD), process understanding, and technology transfer to manufacturing‑scale TFF systems.
