Product Description
PROPOR SG sterilizing grade pharmaceutical filters are for critical sterile filtration of biopharmaceutical products, buffers, purified water, and process reagents. These pleated PES membrane cartridges, capsules, and syringe filters combine high flow performance with proven microbial retention to protect downstream processes and final drug products.
PROPOR SG filters feature a microbially retentive polyethersulphone (PES) membrane with an asymmetric pore structure and high voids volume, delivering exceptionally high flow rates and throughput compared to many alternative sterilizing-grade membranes. Low protein and preservative binding minimizes product loss, while low extractables and broad chemical compatibility across the full pH range, including many organic solvents, make the filters suitable for a wide range of pharmaceutical liquids.
The product family is offered in 0.1, 0.2, and 0.45 µm ratings and in multiple formats, including 2.5–40 in sanitary cartridges, MURUS and DEMICAP single-use capsules, demi cartridges, and 50 mm syringe filters. This allows process engineers to standardize membrane technology from lab development and scale-up through full production, using the same validated PES platform in both stainless steel housings and single-use systems.
PROPOR SG filters are fully validated and integrity testable, with bacterial retention testing to current ASTM F838 methodology using Brevundimonas diminuta, and integrity test limits defined for bubble point and diffusional flow. Materials of construction meet the relevant requirements of FDA 21 CFR 177, USP Plastics Class VI at 121 °C, and ISO 10993 biological safety standards. The filters meet USP <643> (TOC), USP <645> (conductivity), and oxidizable substances requirements for purified water after a short flush, and aqueous extracts contain very low endotoxin and non-volatile extractable levels.
For hygienic operation, PROPOR SG cartridges can be sanitized with hot water up to 90 °C and withstand repeated steam-in-place or autoclave cycles, while MURUS and DEMICAP capsules can be autoclaved and gamma-irradiated for single-use applications. This combination of high-flow PES membrane performance, robust validation, and flexible formats makes PROPOR SG a strong choice for sterile filtration in pharmaceutical and biotech processes.
